With millennials and Gen Z leading the way, the younger generation’s interest in RV travel reflects a growing desire for adventure and freedom while maintaining a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to travel—with trip planning assisted by technology.

According to the report, 48% of RV owners “love using chatbots” to tailor trip itineraries based on their preferences, interests, and destinations. Whether travelers seek scenic routes, family campgrounds, or pet-friendly parks, the AI chatbot curates custom experiences that match individual preferences.

Travel influencers Michael Motamedi and Vanessa Salas use an AI chatbot to decide on their next destination, deciding on travel plans for themselves and their 18-month-old daughter.

“I have decided to let artificial intelligence control my travel plans for the next 6 months,” he wrote in a TikTok post. “AI will choose what countries I visit and what experiences I have.”

While AI chatbots are spreading their wings around the outdoor hospitality industry, the Sheridan/Big Horn Mountains KOA Journey is presented to become the first Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) franchisee to adopt AI chatbot technology.

According to an Associated Press report, campers are adopting AI tools at a faster rate compared to other leisure travelers, depicting 53% for trip research, 48% for itinerary building, and 32% for compiling resources about a specific destination. 

This integration is set to become a standard feature in the coming years, as the demand for outdoor recreation, including RVing, glamping, and camping continues to grow.
