Kampgrounds of America (KOA) will host its annual Buyer’s Workshop April 10–12 at the Nashville KOA Resort, providing prospective campground owners with an introduction to campground ownership and the process of purchasing and operating a KOA-affiliated property.
The immersive workshop is designed to help attendees understand key aspects of acquiring and running a campground, including operational considerations, financing, insurance, and industry trends affecting the outdoor hospitality sector.
Through a series of sessions, participants will hear from franchise operators and partners in insurance and financing while learning about the steps involved in purchasing a campground.
The program will also include a behind-the-scenes tour of the host property to provide a closer look at daily campground operations.
“For many people, buying a campground is a lifelong dream, but understanding the path to purchase can be intimidating,” said Larry Brownfield, assistant vice president of franchise development services for KOA.
“Our Buyer’s Workshop gives prospective owners a chance to really see what goes into the business, ask questions, and walk away with a clearer sense of the opportunity and the support KOA can provide along the way,” Brownfield added.
The sessions will also address the specific insurance needs associated with campground operations and outline the purchase process for prospective buyers evaluating opportunities within the brand’s franchise system.
The company said its brand recognition continues to influence traveler behavior across North America. According to KOA research cited by the company, six in 10 campers say they look to KOA first when deciding where to camp.
KOA operates the largest system of privately owned, open-to-the-public campgrounds, with more than 500 franchised and company-owned locations.
The organization provides support services to campground owners that include education, design, recruitment, marketing, and technology tools intended to assist with business operations and long-term performance.
In addition to the KOA campground network, the company operates Terramor Outdoor Resorts, a glamping-focused brand that opened its first property in Bar Harbor, Maine in 2020.
The registration deadline for the Nashville workshop is March 20.
