Shrewsbury Holiday Park Appoints Experienced New Managers

Seven Oaks Holiday Park, a five-star caravan holiday home park near the Shropshire-Powys border, has appointed new management ahead of the upcoming season.

Darren and Helen Knight have taken on the role of park managers, bringing a mix of retail management and community engagement experience to their new positions.

The 40-acre park, owned by Salop Leisure, offers holiday home accommodations along the River Severn and features two lakes for fishing enthusiasts.

Darren Knight, formerly a regional manager for Wilkos for 34 years, transitioned into the role after working for Wren Kitchens in Shrewsbury.

With a personal passion for carp fishing, he noted that the park’s amenities align closely with his long-held aspiration of managing a site with fishing opportunities.

“I have now realized my dream and everything has fallen into place, as the park has two lakes as well as fishing on the River Severn,” he said.

Helen Knight, known for her fundraising work for various local organizations, has already begun organizing events for the park’s holiday homeowners.

“We are so happy to have been appointed managers,” she said. “The park is beautiful with some lovely walks. I have already developed a programme of events for the holiday homeowners on the park which I hope they will enjoy.”

Salop Caravan Sites associate director Ed Glover expressed confidence in the couple’s ability to enhance the guest experience and contribute to the park’s ongoing success.

“We are delighted to have recruited Darren and Helen. They are both very experienced people, and I’m sure they will be welcomed by the owners on Seven Oaks,” he said in a report by Shropshire Star.

For industry professionals, the transition highlights the importance of strong, customer-facing management in driving guest engagement and operational efficiency.

The couple’s backgrounds in retail and community involvement suggest a focus on both service quality and customer relationships, key elements in the competitive holiday park sector.

Their appointment also underscores a broader trend in the industry, where management teams with diverse skills are being leveraged to enhance visitor experience and long-term business sustainability.
