A family-run campsite in Suffolk has been recognized among the most outstanding campsites in Britain, highlighting the continued role that independent parks and glamping operators play in the United Kingdom’s outdoor hospitality sector.
Cosy Camping Suffolk, located in Bucklesham near Ipswich, was recently named by campsites.co.uk as one of the country’s most outstanding campsites. The recognition comes nearly a decade after the business was established in 2017 on land that has been part of the Ramsey family’s farm for generations.
The campsite offers a mix of accommodation options designed to appeal to different segments of the outdoor travel market. These include a converted grain silo, several types of en-suite wooden camping pods, and traditional pitches for guests who prefer tent camping.
Reacting to the recognition, the campsite said: “Being a small family campsite, this means the world.
“Not everyone sees our website or knows that we’re here so it’s great to get the recognition.
“We opened a few years before Covid hit, and after that, the trend of staycations did a lot of good for us.”
According to the Ipswich Star, the business was launched several years before the COVID-19 pandemic significantly altered travel patterns across the UK. During and after the pandemic, domestic tourism and staycations increased as many travelers chose destinations closer to home, providing opportunities for campsites, caravan parks, and glamping operators to attract new visitors.
According to information associated with the recognition, Cosy Camping Suffolk maintains a 4.81-star rating on its travel listing platform, while 94% of visitors report that they would recommend the site to others. Visitor feedback has highlighted customer service, the site’s rural setting, and the overall camping experience.
Reviews cited by the campsite include comments such as “amazing service – 100% on all aspects” and descriptions of the property as “peaceful in a lovely setting”.
For outdoor hospitality professionals, the recognition illustrates how smaller independently operated parks can build visibility through guest reviews, online booking platforms, and niche accommodation offerings. As competition within the camping, glamping, and caravan sectors continues to grow, positive guest feedback and strong online ratings remain important tools for attracting visitors and generating repeat business.
The recognition also reflects broader consumer demand for varied outdoor accommodation options, with travelers increasingly seeking experiences that combine traditional camping with higher-comfort alternatives such as glamping pods and unique converted structures. For operators, diversification of accommodations can help appeal to a wider customer base while creating additional revenue opportunities throughout the season.
