Holkham Estate in Norfolk has opened a temporary camping operation for the final weeks of the 2026 British summer season, offering motorhome, caravan, and tent pitches from August 10 through September 7.
The pop-up Camp Holkham experience is located on the grounds of the coastal country estate and is designed to accommodate visitors looking for a short stay during the remaining summer and school holiday period. Pitches for up to two adults and two children start at £30 per night, with discounted rates available for stays of three nights or more.
The campsite provides several services and amenities intended to support both short-term campers and guests traveling with recreational vehicles.
These include 24-hour staff presence, toilet and shower facilities, Wi-Fi, and outdoor washing areas. Local food suppliers will also operate food trucks at the campsite, giving guests dining options without requiring them to prepare every meal at their pitch.
Camp Holkham is also being positioned as a base for exploring the wider estate. Each booking includes discounts on selected estate activities, including 10% off admission to Holkham Hall and the Walled Garden, 10% off cycle hire and the estate’s high ropes attraction, and 15% off midweek lunches.
The camping operation coincides with a schedule of events taking place at Holkham during the final month of summer, according to TimeOut. These include Feast in the Park, a street food festival, as well as bat treks and an outdoor theater production of Pinocchio. The combination of overnight accommodation and access to estate activities provides an example of how temporary camping operations can be linked to an existing destination’s events calendar.
For outdoor hospitality operators, the Camp Holkham model highlights the potential of temporary accommodation to extend visitor stays around established attractions and scheduled events.
Rather than operating solely as a place to sleep, the campsite is connected to activities, food services, discounts, and experiences elsewhere on the property. This approach can give operators additional opportunities to generate visitor spending while helping destinations package accommodation with existing assets.
The limited operating period also provides a seasonal model that may be relevant to landowners and hospitality businesses evaluating temporary camping concepts. A defined opening window can allow operators to test demand, infrastructure requirements, and guest services without committing to a permanent campsite operation.
With Camp Holkham scheduled to operate through September 7, the temporary site will cover the latter part of the summer vacation period and the transition into the early autumn shoulder season.
Its use of existing estate attractions and events demonstrates how seasonal camping can be incorporated into a broader destination strategy while providing flexible accommodation for tent campers and recreational vehicle users.
