Winnebago Industries Ranks 32nd in USA Today’s America’s Climate Leaders 2024 List

Winnebago Industries, a manufacturer of outdoor recreation products, has been recognized for its environmental leadership by USA Today. The company has been named one of America’s Climate Leaders 2024, ranking 32nd on a list of 450 companies evaluated for their progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions according to a press release.

This accolade highlights Winnebago Industries’ commitment to sustainability, particularly in the Automotive & Components sector. The company has achieved a 38.6 percent reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions from its 2020 baseline, demonstrating the effectiveness of its environmental initiatives.

“Winnebago Industries has made great steps forward on our sustainability journey,” said Nathan Pommier, enterprise director of environmental sustainability. We are excited about the positive impact we can make on the planet through innovative operational sustainability strategies, investments in renewable energy and product stewardship efforts that delight our customers.

The recognition by USA Today, announced on July 22, resulted from a comprehensive evaluation process conducted with Statista Inc. The ranking focused on U.S. companies with annual revenues of at least $50 million that demonstrated the most significant reduction in emissions intensity between 2020 and 2022.

Winnebago Industries’ commitment to sustainability extends across its portfolio of premium brands, including Grand Design RV, Newmar, Winnebago, Barletta Boats, and Chris-Craft. This approach integrates sustainability across all business aspects, from manufacturing to product design.

The company has set goals to be achieved by 2030, including a 90% diversion of waste from landfills, at least a 50% reduction in absolute greenhouse gas emissions, and a 30% reduction in freshwater use. These targets demonstrate a holistic approach to environmental stewardship.

Winnebago Industries’ long-term vision includes achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change. To support this objective, the company is investing in operational sustainability strategies and renewable energy solutions.

In addition to emissions reduction, Winnebago Industries is exploring innovative opportunities to enhance the environmental performance of its recreational vehicles and boats. The company is also a member of the United Nations (UN) We Mean Business Coalition, further demonstrating its commitment to sustainability.

By setting ambitious goals and implementing innovative strategies, Winnebago Industries is positioning itself as a model for environmental responsibility in the outdoor recreation industry.
