A proposed RV campground, Diamond Shores, is in the early stages of development near Conway, South Carolina, along S.C. Highway 905. This project, led by Diamond Shores, a local real estate and land development firm, involves nearly 35 acres of property currently owned by Warren and Sharon Stalvey.
The firm recently submitted a formal application to the Horry County government, requesting to rezone the property to accommodate recreational vehicles and cabins.
Presently, the site hosts over 20 manufactured homes. The Stalvey family envisions a transformation that would shift the focus to RVs and cabins, offering a camping environment close to the Waccamaw River.
The proposed layout includes 94 RV parking spaces, 23 cabins, and support facilities like a campground office and a general store for campers.
According to an article published by The Post and Courier, the rezoning application was initially filed in August, but the request has faced delays. David Schwerd, the chief operating officer of Diamond Shores explained that the deferment resulted from necessary surveying efforts, allowing the team to address questions raised by the Horry County planning and engineering departments.
Near the proposed campground, the Waccamaw River offers various outdoor recreation opportunities that draw locals and tourists alike. Boaters can navigate its winding waters, anglers find fishing spots, and birdwatchers enjoy sightings of diverse avian species along its scenic banks.
