RVshare’s 2025 Report Highlights Shift to Quality Travel and RV Adventures

RVshare, the largest online community for RV owners and renters, has unveiled its sixth annual Travel Trend Report, providing a deep dive into how Americans plan to approach travel in 2025 according to a press release

The report, conducted by Wakefield Research, highlights a strong desire to travel, with 90% of respondents planning to maintain or increase their travel frequency compared to 2024. However, it also reveals a paradigm shift in priorities as consumers lean toward more meaningful, passion-driven, and high-quality experiences, even if that means fewer trips overall.

The report highlights a transformational year ahead for the travel industry, driven by evolving preferences. Americans are channeling their passions and taking a more thoughtful approach to travel in 2025, focusing on trips that prioritize connection, personal interests, and relaxation.

Nearly two-thirds of travelers plan to allocate their budgets toward fewer but more meaningful trips, and family and group travel is making a strong comeback, with over half of respondents planning leisure trips with family or friends, a 10-point increase from last year.

Parents are driving this trend, with 67% planning family trips. Younger generations, especially Gen Z and Millennials, are shaping the trend of passion-driven travel by planning trips centered around personal interests like food, music, sports, and wellness.

Gen Z is particularly inspired by viral social media content, with 58% citing it as a travel motivator, while Boomers focus more on history-based travel, such as visiting national monuments.

Travelers are also embracing “splurgecations,” with nearly three-quarters willing to spend more on dining, attractions, shopping, and outdoor adventures. For many, splurging isn’t just about spending—it’s about creating lasting memories and seizing unique opportunities.

Interestingly, 62% of employed Americans plan to work remotely during personal travel in 2025, enabling longer, more luxurious trips. The desire for adventure is balanced by a need for relaxation, with more travelers seeking laid-back itineraries.

Over 54% are planning trips that combine quality time with family, exploration of new destinations, and immersion in nature. RV travel continues to grow in popularity, with 60% of respondents planning RV trips in 2025—a 12-point increase from last year for Gen X travelers.

RVs are becoming more than just transportation; they’re a favored accommodation choice, with 47% of travelers preferring RVs for their 2025 journeys. Destinations like the Grand Canyon and Acadia National Park are among the top picks for RV adventurers.

The report further reveals that Americans are prioritizing family and friends, with 65% citing quality time with loved ones as a primary travel value. Passion-driven travel remains dominant, with 94% of travelers open to planning trips around personal interests. AI tools are transforming trip planning, with Millennials leading the adoption.

Nearly 80% of travelers are intrigued by AI for building efficient, personalized itineraries. RV delivery amenities, available in 70% of RVshare’s inventory, are simplifying travel logistics, with 44% of bookings opting for RV delivery to destinations.

Jon Gray, CEO of RVshare, highlighted the evolving nature of travel: “This year’s Trend Report illustrates that Americans are yearning for more intentional travel and captivating experiences—especially when it comes to road trips. It’s about cherishing time with loved ones, letting hobbies guide the way, and finding a balance between exploration and relaxation.”

“Whether travelers are dreaming about indulging in a gourmet meal at a viral restaurant from social media, hiking a historic trail, or shopping for eclectic local finds, RVshare’s expansive inventory has an option for any road trip. We’re excited to fuel this new kind of adventure–where the journey itself becomes just as important as the destination, if not more,” he added.

The 2025 Travel Trend Report is a vital resource for the travel industry, signaling opportunities to meet consumer demands for personalization, flexibility, and intentional travel. With travelers seeking quality over quantity and passion-driven adventures, businesses have a chance to innovate and create experiences that resonate deeply with their customers.
