RVshare Releases Top 10 Most Outdoor-Friendly Cities

RVshare, a community for RV owners and renters, released findings on outdoor recreation in U.S. cities. The campaign, designed to encourage city-dwelling Americans to embark on outdoor adventures, was launched in partnership with Cairn Consulting Group.

The research analyzed resident behavior, access to recreational activities, geographic proximity, and perceptions of outdoor opportunities, resulting in the ranking of cities into “The Most Outdoor-Friendly Cities” and “The Least Outdoor-Friendly Cities.

Earlier research conducted by RVshare revealed that while most Americans recognize the benefits of spending time outdoors, 57% still crave more time in nature. It was also found that Americans feel “stir-crazy” after spending 10.5 consecutive hours indoors.

Time spent outdoors is associated with improved relaxation, clear-mindedness, better mood, and reduced feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression.

RVshare’s new campaign aims to identify where Americans are engaging in outdoor recreation and where they are not. As part of their findings, the top 10 most outdoor-friendly cities include Seattle, Denver, Grand Rapids, Miami, Portland, Nashville, San Francisco, Richmond, Los Angeles, and Charlotte. Conversely, the least outdoor-friendly cities are Houston, Rochester, Hartford, Tulsa, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Detroit, Buffalo, Raleigh, and Fresno.

According to a press release, RVshare also aims to inspire travelers to explore the great outdoors. Following the publication of the report, RVshare is offering up to $500,000 in discounts on RV rentals to help city-dwellers access nature and the freedom of the open road.

Renters who spend $500 will receive $35 off using the code OUTSIDE35, and those who spend $1,000 will receive $75 off using the code OUTSIDE75. These promo codes are available through August 10, and can be applied to any future trip.

RVshare CEO Jon Gray emphasized the company’s mission to get people outdoors to create “unforgettable memories and experiences.” Gray noted that the majority of Americans want to spend more time outdoors but feel they lack opportunities.

“We dove deep into which U.S. cities’ residents find it difficult to access outdoor recreation – even when state and national parks are not too far away. Concurrently, we learned which cities are perceived to have abundant opportunities to be outside, and how those residents and visitors take advantage of their natural surroundings,” Gray said.

RVshare offers a diverse selection of vehicles for rent across the U.S., ranging from luxury motorhomes to cozy camper vans. The platform allows users to find vehicles that accommodate any outdoor adventure, whether it’s a weekend camping trip or a cross-country tour of national parks.
