America’s 250th Birthday Inspires Blue Water Development’s Multi-State Fourth of July Road Trip Itinerary

Blue Water Development is highlighting a multi-state road trip itinerary across the Eastern United States as travelers prepare for Fourth of July vacations and look ahead to America’s 250th birthday celebrations.

The suggested route features campground and RV resort destinations spanning New York to South Carolina, combining outdoor recreation with locations tied to significant moments in American history.

The itinerary comes as road travel remains a popular vacation choice, with Hilton reporting that 71% of Americans plan to drive on their next vacation.

The route begins at HTR Niagara on Grand Island, New York, about a 10-minute drive from Niagara Falls. The area played a role in the War of 1812 and served as a crossing point for Underground Railroad routes into Canada.

Guests have access to amenities including a heated swimming pool, mini golf, ziplining, basketball courts, a private beach, fishing, canoe and kayak launches, and walking trails.

The campground also provides access to regional attractions such as Niagara Falls State Park, Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds and the Niagara Falls Observation Tower.

The second stop is Jellystone Park Delaware Beaches in Lincoln, Delaware. The campground is located in the first state to ratify the U.S. Constitution and is near Lewes, which is known as “The First Town in The First State.”

The destination offers an outdoor pool with water slides, an arcade, family movie nights and scheduled activities, while nearby historic attractions include 18th-century architecture, museums and War of 1812 landmarks.

Travelers can continue south to Sun Outdoors Ocean City Getaway in Whaleyville, Maryland. The property is located in the state associated with the writing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and offers amenities including an outdoor pool, mini golf, pickleball, basketball and volleyball courts, an arcade, and themed family events.

Guests also receive admission and shuttle service to the Waterpark at Frontier Town, Assateague State Park and the Ocean City Boardwalk.

The itinerary then heads to Cape Charles/Chesapeake Bay KOA Resort in Virginia. Located on the Chesapeake Bay, the resort sits near waterways connected to the Revolutionary War, including the Battle of the Chesapeake.

The campground features a private beach, pool, dog beach, dog park, themed weekends, community fire pits and live music. Nearby attractions include the historic town of Cape Charles and Kiptopeke State Park.

The next destination is Outer Banks West/Currituck Sound KOA Holiday in Coinjock, North Carolina. The campground is within driving distance of the Outer Banks, an area linked to the Lost Colony of Roanoke, the Wright brothers’ first powered flight at Kitty Hawk and the death of Blackbeard near Ocracoke.

The property offers a heated pool, sports courts, water activities, sunset cruises and shuttle service to Timbuk II and Carova Beach.

The route concludes at Santee/Santee Lakes KOA Journey in Summerton, South Carolina. The community is recognized as the birthplace of Briggs v. Elliott, one of the cases that became part of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision.

Situated on Lake Marion, the campground offers a private beach, boating dock, fishing, paddleboarding, swimming pool, sports courts and a dog park. Visitors are also within driving distance of Columbia and Charleston, where museums and Civil War sites are among the area’s historical attractions.
