Chessington World of Adventures Resort in Surrey, UK, has opened a new safari-themed glamping accommodation offering, adding 35 tents to its on-site overnight accommodation options.
Explorer Glamping opened on May 27 next to the resort’s Wild Asia area. The development includes 31 glamping tents designed to accommodate families of four, with each tent furnished with one double bed and two single beds. A further four premium Amboseli Tents provide additional space, featuring a king-size bed, a separate sleeping area with three single beds, and a larger living area intended for larger groups or guests seeking more privacy.
All Explorer Glamping guests share access to shower and toilet facilities located in jungle-themed huts. The setup provides an accommodation format distinct from traditional hotel rooms while retaining access to amenities and attractions across the wider resort.
The new offering is also integrated with Chessington’s theme park experience, according to Sports Management. Overnight guests receive exclusive evening access to selected rides and attractions in the Wild Asia zone, as well as the opportunity to dine at the newly introduced Explorers’ Outpost restaurant, which follows the safari theme of the glamping area.
Guests staying at Explorer Glamping also receive a two-day pass to Chessington World of Adventures. Their package includes access to the Rangers Club evening entertainment and the Savannah Splash pool at the resort’s existing Safari- and Azteca-themed hotels.
For outdoor hospitality operators, the development illustrates how glamping can be incorporated into a broader destination-based accommodation model rather than operated as a standalone lodging product.
In this case, the tents are positioned as part of a wider package that combines overnight accommodation with park admission, evening entertainment, dining, and access to hotel facilities. This approach can create additional opportunities for operators to generate revenue across multiple areas of a destination, while also giving guests reasons to remain on-site beyond daytime activities.
The opening also expands Chessington’s accommodation mix at a time when the resort continues to develop its wider visitor offering. In March 2026, Chessington launched Pandamonium Live Show, featuring a life-size animatronic panda experience designed to provide visitors with an interactive attraction focused on endangered animals.
The resort has also revamped its Trail of Kings area, which houses Western lowland gorillas, Sumatran tigers, and Asiatic lions.
The launch of Explorer Glamping on May 27 adds another accommodation format to that broader portfolio and links the glamping experience directly to the resort’s attractions, dining, and existing hospitality infrastructure.
