An €80,000 glamping pod development has been proposed in Cherryville, County Kildare, Ireland, with plans for four detached units intended to provide tourist accommodation.
The proposal, submitted to Kildare County Council on August 10, 2026, is being advanced by Cherryville Pod Partnership, with Whyte Planning Consultants Limited acting as planning consultants. Construction Information Services (CIS) is monitoring the application while the Local Planning Authority considers the proposal.
The development would consist of four single-story detached glamping pods, comprising two Type 1 units and two Type 2 units. Each of the Type 2 pods is planned to include an individual external sauna. The application also includes supporting infrastructure and site works needed to operate the accommodation.
According to KildareLive, the proposal includes a secondary effluent treatment system, use of the site’s existing entrance, landscaping, and an access road. Other associated site works are also included in the application.
The proposal would add a small-scale tourist accommodation operation to the Cherryville area, with the four-unit configuration allowing the developer to establish a limited number of guest units rather than a larger accommodation site.
