RVIA Honors Reps. Rudy Yakym and Dina Titus With National Legislative Award

The RV Industry Association presented its National Legislative Award to the U.S. Reps. Rudy Yakym of Indiana and Dina Titus of Nevada during RVs Move America Week, recognizing their legislative efforts on behalf of the RV industry.

The award honors individuals who have distinguished themselves in legislative matters affecting the RV sector. Yakym and Titus were recognized for their work advancing the Travel Trailer and Camper Tax Parity Act, legislation aimed at addressing a tax treatment issue affecting RV dealers.

Yakym, who was elected to Congress in 2022, introduced the Travel Trailer and Camper Tax Parity Act during the 118th Congress.

The bill sought to make a technical correction to the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act by allowing RV dealers to fully deduct interest on floor plan financing for all RVs sold, including non-motorized towable trailers.

The legislation was introduced and referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means in 2023 but did not advance out of committee during that Congress.

In 2025, Yakym secured a seat on the House Ways and Means Committee and reintroduced the measure alongside Titus in January of that year. The lawmakers worked to build bipartisan support for the proposal among members of Congress.

According to the RVIA, the bill gained support from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, passed the House of Representatives, and was ultimately included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. President Donald Trump signed the legislation into law on July 4, 2025.

The association said the enactment of the measure provides benefits for RV dealers and manufacturers nationwide and highlighted Yakym’s role in advancing the legislation.

“I don’t do this job for awards. But when I receive one, I want it to mean something, and the National Legislative Award certainly does,” Yakym said in a News and Insights report of RVIA on June 16.

“Nobody fights harder for manufacturing jobs than the RV Industry Association. It’s an honor to stand with the RV Industry Association’s team to protect the 49,000 jobs and billions in investment the RV industry brings to Indiana’s second district,” he added.

Titus, co-chair of the House RV Caucus, also played a leading role in advancing the legislation. During the 118th Congress, she joined Yakym in introducing the Travel Trailer and Camper Tax Parity Act and later partnered with him to reintroduce the measure in January 2025.

The reintroduced bill secured support from 11 additional cosponsors before passing the House of Representatives.

The RVIA credited Titus with helping advance policies intended to support the RV industry’s competitiveness within the broader recreation and outdoor economy.

“It was an honor to receive this year’s National Legislative Award from the RV Industry Association,” Titus said.

“Many families and tourists across the country find the best way to explore our nation’s national parks and beautiful natural landscapes is from an RV. As co-chair of the Congressional RV Caucus, I led legislation that is making it easier for my constituents to acquire an RV, travel to new places, and experience the American dream in this unique way,” Titus added.
