Award-Winning Green Getaway: Drummohr Camp Near Edinburgh Impresses Guests

Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site, situated along the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh, offers a unique blend of history and luxury within the grounds of a former monastery. According to The Scotsman, the park recently gained recognition for its commitment to eco-friendly practices and exceptional guest experiences.

The site features luxury lodges, glamping pods, and pitches with amenities. Its environmental conservation efforts include providing electric vehicle charging points and encouraging guests to use public transport. It also works to improve wildlife habitats and minimize energy consumption.

These efforts have earned Drummohr a five-star rating from the AA and Visit Scotland, as well as the title of Best Park in Scotland from PitchUp.com. Readers of Camping Magazine also named it the best campsite in the UK for 2024.

Angie Purves, who leads the Drummohr team, attributes their success to collective effort. She states, “It’s very much a team effort involving all of our employee owners and guests. The park invests substantially in new facilities and top-end accommodation to meet the highest expectations and focuses on implementing the little things that make a huge difference.”

The park’s impact extends to the local community and economy. Purves emphasizes, “We are proud too that the spending of our visitors benefits many smaller local businesses, such as shops, restaurants and visitor attractions, and supports the jobs they provide. We actively promote these both on our website and through our guest app.” Drummohr maintains a strong ‘buy local’ policy, sourcing many products for their shop from nearby producers and suppliers.

Drummohr features spacious grass and hardstanding pitches with electric, plus heated glamping pods, some with ensuite facilities, and themed pods for families. Luxury hot tub lodges and a self-catering cottage provide upscale accommodations. Dog-friendly amenities include a dog walk, wash station, and free stays for two dogs on touring pitches.

The park’s commitment to quality and sustainability continues to set it apart in Scotland’s camping and glamping industry.
