Park Cliffe Windermere Camping and Caravan Park has received two industry accolades for the 2026/27 season, including an AA Gold Award recognizing the Lake District property as one of the organization’s highest-rated parks.
Operated by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, Park Cliffe was assessed through an AA inspection covering the site’s facilities and services. The park achieved an overall score of more than 90%, qualifying it for the Gold Award for 2026/27.
The park was also included on Campsites.co.uk’s Outstanding Sites list, which recognizes 150 campsites and holiday parks across the UK. The listing adds a second external assessment of the park’s performance and guest experience.
Located on 25 acres of countryside near Windermere, Park Cliffe accommodates touring caravans, motorhomes and campers, as well as guests staying in glamping pods. The park also generates renewable energy through an on-site solar array.
The Caravan and Motorhome Club took over operation of Park Cliffe earlier in 2026 under a long-term lease agreement. The park is also a member of the Holiday and Residential Parks Association.
For operators, the recognition illustrates how site quality is increasingly assessed across several areas, including physical facilities, service delivery and guest feedback. While formal inspections can provide a benchmark for amenities and operational standards, guest reviews can offer an additional measure of how those facilities translate into the overall stay. Maintaining both areas can be particularly relevant for mixed-accommodation parks serving touring, camping and glamping customers.
Park manager Julie Ward told CumbriaCrack: “These awards mean a lot to us because both are focussed not just on the quality of our facilities, but also the type of experience we provide to guests.
“They include the reviews of people who have stayed at Park Cliffe, and who comment on the welcoming atmosphere and friendly service which they receive.
“Creating those type of memories is very much in the hands of our park team, so they must take a big share of the credit for these achievements.”
The awards come during the park’s first year under the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s operation, providing an early external measure of its performance following the change in management. For outdoor hospitality businesses, the combination of third-party inspections, guest reviews and operational investment can provide useful benchmarks when evaluating service standards and identifying areas for improvement.
