Bookings at Reflections Holidays parks have seen an increase this summer, with a rise of 7% in bookings from November through February compared to the same period in 2023.
Reflections Holidays CEO Nick Baker attributes this growth to a trend of prioritizing travel and shared experiences over traditional holiday gift-giving.
This shift in consumer behavior has been supported by a recent report showing Australians are opting for travel experiences over physical gifts during the 2024 holiday season.
Baker noted that some families are choosing to spend on group accommodation bookings at Christmas instead of purchasing traditional gifts.
“We all celebrate Christmas in different ways and the COVID-19 pandemic served not only as a reminder of the amazing holiday destinations we have in Australia, but the importance of connecting with our loved ones and, where possible, doing that in nature, which has a positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing,” Baker said in a press release.
While many Reflections parks are expected to be heavily booked around Christmas and New Year, Baker added that there is still availability across the company’s portfolio for the summer period.
Reflections operates 40 parks and properties across New South Wales, offering a variety of accommodation options, including dog-friendly cabins and accessible accommodations at many sites.
Minister for Lands and Property Steve Kamper highlighted Reflections as the largest holiday park group in the state, emphasizing the company’s focus on connecting guests to nature-based experiences.
The company offers budget-friendly options, such as unpowered campsites, powered sites for caravans, and standard cabins for families. For those seeking more upscale options, Reflections also provides deluxe villas, glamping tents, and tiny homes.
Baker acknowledged the financial pressures many families face, noting that camping continues to be a cost-effective option for affordable holidays.
“We know that families are feeling the pinch with cost-of-living pressures and camping continues to tick the affordable holiday box: our budget-friendly options include unpowered campsites to pitch your tent, powered sites for caravans or road vans, and standard cabins for families.”
