Jayco Adds New Features in JPod Campers for ‘Homeworkers’

As the number of young Australians working and calling their apartments “home” continues to grow, Jayco expands its JPod camper range, adding a new side entry door, rear kitchen, and easy to store at home ‘X’ model as a response.

Designed to be stored in an underground car parking space, the single-axle JPod X, which was also the major ‘door’ prize at this year’s Queensland Supershow, is ideal for spontaneous weekend getaways by singles or couples, according to a report.

The JPod X’s hail and dent-resistant sandwich panel fiberglass walls should make it well-suited for adventurous weekends. It also has a double-sized mattress bed inside and plenty of storage space in the inner walls and under the bed for clothes.

Users can also find a standard external two-burner gas cooktop and sink on Outback while being optional for sports models.

Two models are available – the Sport, or Outback, the latter with more ground clearance thanks to its uprated J-Tech 2.0 independent coil spring suspension.

The ‘X’s ‘killer’ feature is its low tare weight from 756kg for Sport and 904kg for Outback, which means it can be towed by most average sedans or small SUVs, while its price is ‘young traveler affordable’, starting at AU$29,490.

With its fixed roof, the JPod X is designed for supple young bodies and bedside lights and USB points cater to their interests.

A rooftop tent is optional, as is an A -frame-mounted toolbox, but a 270-degree bat-wing awning is standard. The alloy 15-inch wheels, A-frame jerrycan holder, 9kg gas bottle, and 80-liter fresh water tank are also standard.

The model will also have a 100AH battery with a built-in battery management system, a single Sirocco 12v cooling fan, 180 Watt rooftop solar panel, and a portable 45-liter fridge-freezer.
