The Dyrt has named its Top 9 for K-9s: 2026 Best Places to Camp with Dogs, with 4 Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, returning to the top spot.
The annual list recognizes campgrounds based on reviews and ratings from The Dyrt’s camping community, as well as amenities, accommodations and overall reputation.
The rankings highlight campgrounds that cater to campers traveling with dogs.
The Dyrt’s 2026 Camping Report, presented by Toyota Trucks, found that 49.7% of campers reported camping with dogs in 2025, the highest share among all types of pets.
“Many campgrounds make it a priority to provide at least some accommodations to campers with dogs, and we certainly appreciate it,” Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt, said.
“But some places really make it a focus and treat the dogs as well as they treat the campers,” Long added.
4 Paws Kingdom previously took the top position in 2024. The Rutherfordton campground is described by The Dyrt as the only dog-dedicated campground in the United States.
Fort De Soto Campground in Florida ranked second, followed by Lake George RV Park in New York and Wagonhammer RV Park & Campground in Idaho.
The remaining campgrounds were Campground at James Island County Park in South Carolina, Sweet Escape RV Resort in Arkansas, Alum Creek State Park in Ohio, Flying Flags RV Resort and Campground in California, and Madison RV Resort and Golf Course in Florida.
The Dyrt has also released 2026 rankings covering other camping categories, including National Park Neighbors, With Kids, For Free, Near Water and Near Cities.
Its annual awards also include the Glampy Awards, Best Places to RV, regional Top 10 lists and the Best Places to Camp: Top 10 in the United States.
The Top 9 for K-9s list is presented by JustFoodForDogs.
