PCOA Seeks August 2026 Campground Occupancy Data to Track Regional Trends

The Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA) is seeking August 2026 occupancy data from RV parks and campgrounds to track industry and regional trends and support the association’s work with government officials and the media.

The association’s occupancy survey asks campground operators to report their occupancy figures by region.

Operators who are unsure how to calculate occupancy can complete questions three and four of the survey, allowing PCOA to calculate the figures.

The association emphasizes that providing the region number is important because reports are compiled by region rather than by individual campground.

Occupancy statistics are used to establish and predict trends in the RV park and campground industry and identify changes at the regional level.

The data also supports the association’s efforts to demonstrate the economic contributions of RV parks and campgrounds to local and state economies.

The association uses the statistics in discussions with government officials, including efforts to demonstrate that additional public campground sites are not needed.

The data also allows PCOA representatives to speak with knowledge and authority when addressing the media about industry conditions.

For individual campground operators, the occupancy data can be used to evaluate business performance and compare year-to-year results.

The statistics can also help operators determine whether their parks are experiencing trends similar to those at other campgrounds in their areas.

The association said occupancy trends can assist operators in projecting camper nights with greater accuracy, providing a tool for planning and evaluating future business performance.

The data may also help establish the value of a campground when an owner is considering a sale or refinancing.

PCOA further identified the statistics as a resource for campground operators engaged with local governments.
