The Dyrt Unveils Top 10 Best Places to Camp in the US for 2024

The Dyrt, an app for camping availability, photos, and reviews, announced its 2024 Best Places to Camp: Top 10 in the U.S., presented by the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. The rankings are derived from recent reviews and ratings by The Dyrt’s community of campers and highlight various of America’s natural wonders and amenities.

According to Sarah Smith, founder of The Dyrt, the list reflects the diverse preferences of nearly 85 million campers in the United States. “We’re confident that the dream destinations that made it onto the Best Places to Camp: Top 10 in the U.S. list all provide exceptional experiences and lifetime memories. Each is amazing in its own way and deserves to be discovered,” Smith said in a press release.

The Top 10 campgrounds for 2024 include “The Wall” in Buffalo Gap National Grasslands, South Dakota; Saddle Mountain in Kaibab National Forest, Arizona; Sacred White Shell Mountain, Colorado; Bay Point Landing, Oregon; Hidden Valley Campground in Joshua Tree National Park, California; Sandy Springs Campground, Ohio; BLM Middle Fork Shafer Canyon Dispersed, Utah; St. Andrews State Park, Florida; Keuka Lake State Park, New York; and Elkamp Eastcreek, Washington.

These campgrounds offer a range of environments, from grasslands and forests to mountains and lakes, demonstrating the variety of experiences available to campers. The cost to stay at these sites ranges from free to nearly $300 per night.

Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt, described America as an amazing place with numerous incredible campgrounds. He pointed out that many people may not realize just how many campgrounds exist. Long emphasized that if someone visited a different campground in the U.S. every single day, it would take 140 years to see them all.

“That’s why we love The Dyrt camping community because we collectively get to stay at every campground in the country. And when it comes time to unveil Best Places to Camp, we rely on the reviews that have poured in over the past year to determine the best of the best,” Long explained.

Smith added that the best part of this year’s best places to camp list is the inclusion of numerous free camping locations. She mentioned that when visiting places like The Wall or Saddle Mountain at the Grand Canyon, there’s no doubt that some of life’s best experiences and nature encounters are free.

On the other hand, sometimes you just feel like camping in luxury with an ocean view and s’mores ingredients delivered right to your campsite at a place like Bay Point Landing. To each camper their own,” Smith said.
