OHI announced that Ali Rasmussen, CEO and Creative Director at Spacious Skies Campgrounds, has joined its Board of Directors. Rasmussen’s extensive background in the outdoor hospitality industry and her role at Spacious Skies are poised to bring fresh perspectives to the board.
Having earned the OHI Chairperson’s Award in 2023, Rasmussen has a distinguished record in the industry. Her participation as an Industry Expert at the OHCE2023’s Opening General Session Panel allowed her to share insights into the unique branding and sustainability initiatives at Spacious Skies Campgrounds.
Paul Bambei, president and CEO of OHI, expressed confidence in Rasmussen’s alignment with the organization’s values. “Her remarkable dedication to innovation and fostering inclusivity within the Outdoor Hospitality Industry resonates with OHI’s core values,” Bambei said.
Rasmussen voiced her enthusiasm about her new role and her ongoing commitment to advancing the industry. She emphasized the importance of creating inclusive spaces and highlighted diversity and equity as key components of her mission. “I am really excited to begin this journey on the OHI Board of Directors. I take it very seriously and I’m beyond excited to serve this industry in a new capacity,” Rasmussen remarked.
Her entry into the outdoor hospitality sector was marked by a transformative camping experience with her family during the 2020 pandemic. This personal journey led to the founding of Spacious Skies Campgrounds. Now encompassing 15 campgrounds and RV parks across the Eastern United States, Spacious Skies is dedicated to offering high-quality service and facilities.
With a background in real estate development, marketing, and strategy, Rasmussen is well-prepared to influence the OHI board positively. She foresees a future where the industry embraces a wide range of diversities and fosters meaningful connections among all outdoor enthusiasts.
Rasmussen’s commitment is also expected to bring a stronger focus on inclusivity in campground and outdoor hospitality operations. “We all have the capacity to contribute to the whole, and if we don’t start to do it now, time will lapse, and there will be lost progress,” she emphasized, signaling a proactive approach to industry advancement.
