Pennsylvania Campgrounds Plan Statewide July 4 Parades to Mark America’s 250th Anniversary

Pennsylvania campgrounds will feature patriotic parades on July 4 as part of a statewide celebration marking America’s 250th anniversary, with participating properties across multiple tourism regions planning themed activities for campers and their families.

The Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association announced that campgrounds throughout the state will host their own parades on the afternoon of Independence Day, creating simultaneous celebrations across Pennsylvania.

The effort is designed to provide visitors with a shared experience regardless of which region they choose for their holiday camping trips.

Participating campgrounds are expected to feature a variety of activities that build on traditional holiday events commonly held at Pennsylvania campgrounds.

Planned attractions include golf cart parades decorated in red, white and blue, themed hayrides, walking parades for children and families, and displays involving decorated bicycles, wagons and scooters.

Campgrounds are also expected to organize music, games and other holiday-themed activities as part of the festivities surrounding the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration.

Properties in the Pennsylvania Wilds region taking part in the events include Stony Fork Creek Campground.

In the Laurel Highlands and Alleghenies region, Benners Meadow Run Campground will host special activities tied to the statewide observance.

Several campgrounds in Upstate Pennsylvania and the Susquehanna River Valley are also participating. Those include Little Mexico Campground and Pine Cradle Lake Campground.

In the Dutch Country and Gettysburg region, multiple campgrounds have scheduled events for the holiday weekend. Participating properties include Artillery Ridge Campground & Horse Park, Gettysburg Campground, Hershey Road Campground, Paradise Stream Family Campground, Pinch Pond Family Campground & RV Park, Shady Oaks Family Campground and Tucquan Park Family Campground.

The July 4 activities are expected to bring together thousands of campers at participating campgrounds across Pennsylvania through a mix of parades and family-oriented events held throughout the day.
