Previously on MC Fireside Chats, returning guest Susan Carpenter of the RV Women’s Alliance was joined by the Shyft Group’s Specialty Vehicles President Steve Guillaume, IVEE Management Group’s Director of Operations Scott Knepp, and Florida and Alabama RV Park and Campground Association’s (FARVC) CEO Bobby Cornwell.
The panel talked about disaster-preparedness in the industry and how RV park owners must be proactive in ensuring the safety of the staff and guests.
Knepp noted that communication is one of the most important but difficult aspects when preparing for, during, and after a hurricane, adding: “Communicating often and early is needed to be prepared for changes and ensure they can relay important information during emergencies.”
During the episode, Guillaume also shared a bit about his work with the Shyft Group’s Specialty Vehicles business unit, growing their operations through innovation built on 40 years of industry expertise while keeping customer satisfaction as a top priority.
Cornwell discussed the contributions of the FARVC to RV parks and campgrounds in the state of Florida and Alabama, commenting that the association has consistently provided support like lobbying, networking, and other forms of support needed for the parks within the association.
“We helped pass a law to help parks rebuild infrastructure to their original state. We also help flow communication during important situations like hurricanes or where the staff and customers can stay during these situations.”
