Kampgrounds of America (KOA) has been named one of the Top Franchises for Women in 2026 by Franchise Business Review, placing the outdoor hospitality company among 100 brands recognized based on franchisee satisfaction and performance.
The designation is based on independent survey data collected from franchisees, highlighting feedback from more than 8,550 female owners across 320 franchise brands. The ranking reflects evaluations across 33 benchmark areas, including leadership, training and support, financial opportunity, and work-life balance.
KOA operates a network of more than 500 campgrounds across North America, most of which are individually owned and operated by franchise partners.
“We’re honored to be recognized as a Top Franchise for Women again this year,” Toby O’Rourke, president and CEO of KOA, said in a press release.
“Women play an essential role across the KOA system, from campground owners and operators to leaders within our organization. Their contributions continue to strengthen the outdoor hospitality industry and the communities our campgrounds serve,” O’Rourke added.
Franchise Business Review’s methodology relies solely on franchisee responses, positioning the ranking as a measure of operator experience rather than corporate-reported performance. Survey participants assessed operational factors such as support systems, business culture, and overall satisfaction.
KOA provides franchisees with support in marketing, technology, education, design, and system resources aimed at improving operational efficiency and guest experience.
Michelle Rowan, president of Franchise Business Review, said the findings reflect broader trends in franchise ownership among women.
“This year’s Top Franchises for Women list speaks for itself — 88 percent of female owners say they enjoy operating their business, and 3 out of 4 would recommend their franchise to others,” Rowan said.
She added that evaluating training, leadership, and earning potential remains critical for prospective franchisees.
