Franchisees of Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts announced a 4.5% increase in same-park revenues during 2023, with systemwide revenues witnessing an 87.4% surge since 2019.
“Last year’s performance shows how much families truly value a Jellystone Park vacation. Our ability to increase same-location sales year after year demonstrates that the Jellystone Park brand is well-positioned for the future,” Rob Schutter, president of franchisor Camp Jellystone, said in a press release.
Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts, a company specializing in family camping, glamping, and outdoor entertainment, showcases over 75 locations across the United States and Canada. The brand is known for its comprehensive range of attractions, including pools, water slides, and a variety of family activities. A unique aspect of the Jellystone experience is the opportunity for guests to interact with the beloved Yogi Bear characters, adding a distinctive enjoyment to their stay.
The year 2023 saw a notable 8.1% growth in revenue from cabin and glamping accommodations compared to 2022. This uptick is indicative of a trend where families are patronizing more luxurious and convenient camping options. Additionally, revenue from retail purchases, paid activities, character experiences, and other ancillary services like golf cart rentals experienced a 6.1% increase.
Alongside the continuous growth in same-location sales, the average revenue per unit at Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts soared, reaching close to $3.1 million from the $1.7 million recorded in 2019. This rise represents an 82.4% increase.
Schutter said that many franchisees added luxury glamping options, enlarging pools, water features, and attractions.
Looking ahead, the Jellystone Park network is set to expand further, with three new locations slated to open this summer in Utah, Tennessee, and Georgia. These include Utah’s first Jellystone Park in Hurricane, near Zion National Park; a new resort 40 minutes south of Knoxville, Tennessee, at Watts Bar Lake; and a converted campground in Cochran, Georgia, near Macon.
