Fresh Winds at KCN Campgrounds: Rachel Williamson Takes Helm as New Marketing Manager

KCN Campgrounds has recently appointed Rachel Williamson as its new marketing manager, signaling a strategic commitment in its approach to marketing and customer engagement. 

This move comes at a critical time when the outdoor hospitality industry faces heightened competition and evolving consumer preferences. Nate Thompson, a partner at KCN Campgrounds, commended Williamson’s alignment with the company’s ethos and strategic goals. 

“Rachel’s strategic vision is not just about handling critical day-to-day marketing tasks; she’s [also] working with the management team to lay the groundwork for KCN’s future growth,” he said in an interview with Modern Campground, emphasizing KCN’s new marketing manager’s readiness to propel the company forward.

Professional Roots and Ascension

Beginning her career at Nashville KOA, Williamson quickly rose through the ranks, eventually making significant contributions at Kampgrounds of America (KOA) where she honed her strategic marketing acumen and experience in the outdoor hospitality industry. 

In an interview with Modern Campground, she said her tenure at the outdoor hospitality industry giant was marked by the creation and implementation of innovative marketing strategies and a strong emphasis on data-driven decision-making, which she has carried forward into her new role. 

“My marketing philosophy is deeply rooted in data-driven strategies that adapt flexibly to market changes, ensuring our marketing efforts remain effective and relevant,” Williamson said, highlighting her ability to merge traditional methods with modern technological trends.

Upon her arrival at KCN Williamson swiftly set to work, identifying opportunities to unify and enhance the marketing framework across the company’s diverse locations, applying her ten years of marketing experience.

She said her initiatives are focused on implementing and refining the company’s digital marketing tools and establishing a standardized approach that maintains the unique character of each of the company’s properties while maximizing overall brand impact.

“At KCN, I’m focused on developing a unified marketing framework that aligns with each campground’s unique identity yet leverages collective strengths,” she explained, indicating a strategic blend of individuality and uniformity in marketing efforts.

Innovative Approaches and Personalized Strategies

Williamson is championing the incorporation of advanced digital tools and AI technologies at KCN, aimed at personalizing the guest experience and optimizing marketing efficacy. 

These efforts include a comprehensive audit of existing marketing tools, followed by the implementation of targeted strategies that utilize data to enhance engagement and satisfaction across all guest touchpoints. 

“One of my first initiatives was to conduct a comprehensive audit of our existing marketing tools and strategies. We are now leveraging data more effectively to drive decisions and improve guest engagement across all of KCN’s campgrounds,” she said, showcasing her proactive and analytical approach to marketing.

Connection to Outdoor Hospitality

Williamson’s passion for outdoor hospitality goes beyond the professional; it is a fundamental part of her upbringing and personal life. Having grown up in a family deeply embedded in the camping sector, the marketing expert’s personal experiences have profoundly shaped her professional outlook and objectives.

“I grew up with a natural love for the outdoors, ensuring people have the opportunity to really breathe in the fresh air and see all the opportunity the outdoors has to offer,” she reflected in the interview, conveying a genuine passion that drives her professional endeavours.

A significant aspect of Williamson’s leadership is her direct involvement with ground-level management at various KCN sites. She believes that a hands-on approach ensures that marketing strategies are not only conceived at the corporate level but are also practical and adaptable at the local level. Developing and growing relationships with her KCN teammates at each property is a critical element of the marketing role at the company. 

“Rachel has been instrumental in creating standardized marketing frameworks that are adaptable across all our parks. Her ability to dive deep into the operational needs and come out with tailored recommendations has set new benchmarks for us,” said Thompson.

Future Outlook and Strategic Goals

As she looks to the future, Williamson is focused on elevating KCN’s market presence by integrating advanced marketing techniques that respond to current and emerging trends. With each of the marketing initiatives and strategies being put in place, she aims to boost revenue and enrich the overall guest experience.  

“My goal is to ensure that KCN’s marketing efforts not only drive revenue but also create memorable experiences that make guests want to return,” she said, emphasizing her dual focus on profitability and customer satisfaction. 

“Ultimately, the guest experience is a key element of how we measure ourselves – ensuring that each guest who visits us has an amazing experience and that each member of the KCN team is providing an unreasonable level of hospitality for them.”

Through her strategic initiatives and deep-rooted passion for the outdoors, Rachel Williamson is setting a new course for KCN Campgrounds. Her leadership is characterized by a thoughtful blend of innovation, tradition, and personal dedication, aiming to reshape how the brand interacts with and delights its customers.
