The Dyrt Launches ‘Drive Time’ to Help PRO Users Find Campsites Faster

The Dyrt, a camping app known for its comprehensive database of campgrounds and user-generated reviews, has introduced a new feature called Drive Time.

Launched on April 15, the tool allows PRO members to search for campsites within a specific driving time from their current location, streamlining the planning process for weekend getaways and last-minute trips.

Available exclusively to PRO subscribers, the Drive Time feature can be accessed by updating The Dyrt app, selecting the Drive Time function on the map, and adjusting the travel-time preference. Campers can then view all campgrounds, RV parks, and free campsites within that driving window in real time.

“Camping is the quintessential weekend activity, but that also means that your time is fairly limited,” said Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt. “You don’t want to spend so many hours driving on Friday and Sunday that it makes your Saturday less enjoyable.”

Drive Time adds to the suite of filters already offered through The Dyrt PRO, which include criteria such as campsite type, amenities, and availability. The feature is designed to help users maximize their outdoor experience by reducing time spent navigating travel logistics.

In addition to helping campers discover nearby sites, Drive Time can be used to plan trips in unfamiliar regions. Users can change their current location to any city — such as Denver — and immediately identify available sites within a set driving distance. In one example, users found 385 options within 1.5 hours of Denver.

Drive Time also addresses a common challenge: the distance between two points may appear short on a map, but travel time may vary significantly based on road access. This new tool takes such variables into account, offering a more practical approach to campsite selection.

“Trying to figure out where to go camping every weekend was the reason I started The Dyrt in the first place,” said Sarah Smith, founder of The Dyrt. “Drive Time would have helped immensely in those days. We would have set it for one hour and made it our mission to stay at every campground in the surrounding area.”
