Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments Post New Fire Restrictions

The National Park Service sites in Yavapai County, Arizona, announced their newly updated fire restrictions in Montezuma Castle, including the Montezuma Well Unit, and the Tuzigoot National Monuments.

Effective immediately, the following restrictions also apply to the surrounding federal, state, and local jurisdictions.

Smoking, including Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (E.N.D.S.), is prohibited except when inside a personal vehicle.

Any open flame source within the boundaries of the National Park Service without written authorization by the superintendent or their designee is also prohibited. This rule includes igniting, building, and maintaining a fire for wood or charcoal briquettes. The use of propane fire in designated areas is allowed.

Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments are two of America’s 423 national park units.
