RV Shipments Fall 9.2% in September 2026, RVIA Reports

The RV Industry Association reported 23,230 wholesale RV shipments in September 2026, a 9.2% decrease from the 25,684 units shipped in September 2025. The latest figures show continued declines in overall RV shipments through the first nine months of the year, while park model RV shipments recorded growth both for September and year to date.

Total wholesale RV shipments reached 230,511 units through September 2026, down 13.7% from the 267,234 units recorded during the same period in 2025. The figures indicate that manufacturers have shipped fewer RVs this year than last year, a trend that manufacturers, dealers, and other businesses across the RV supply chain may need to consider when planning inventory, production, and sales strategies for the remainder of the year.

Towable RVs accounted for the majority of September shipments, with 20,667 units delivered. This represented a 9.7% decline from the same month in 2025. Conventional travel trailers led the towable category, according to the association’s report.

Motorhome shipments also declined in September, falling 5.5% year over year to 2,653 units. Although the percentage decrease was smaller than that recorded for towable RVs, both major RV segments experienced lower wholesale shipment volumes compared with September 2025.

Park model RVs followed a different trajectory. Manufacturers shipped 366 units in September, representing a 3.4% increase from the same month last year. Year-to-date shipments in the category reached 3,804 units, up 19.8% compared with the corresponding period in 2025.

The difference between overall RV shipments and park model performance highlights the importance of examining individual product categories rather than relying solely on industry-wide totals. While the broader RV market has experienced lower shipment volumes, park model RVs have continued to record year-over-year growth.

For RV dealers, manufacturers, suppliers, and outdoor hospitality operators, these figures provide context for evaluating demand and making business decisions. Dealers may use shipment trends alongside retail sales, existing inventory, and regional demand when determining purchasing plans. Manufacturers and suppliers can also monitor the differences between towable, motorized, and park model products when assessing production requirements and distribution strategies.

For campground and RV park operators, the figures may be relevant when considering future site development, accommodation offerings, or investments in facilities designed to accommodate recreational vehicles. However, wholesale shipments measure units delivered by manufacturers rather than completed retail sales or actual campground bookings. The figures alone do not establish whether consumer demand for RV travel or overnight stays has increased or decreased by the same proportion.

The September results cover the first nine months of 2026, providing an updated view of industry shipment performance as businesses approach the final quarter of the year. The RV Industry Association publishes monthly shipment data to help industry participants track changes in wholesale activity and compare current results with previous periods.

The association’s September 2026 shipment figures and accompanying report are available through its website. The September data provides a reference point for businesses monitoring year-over-year performance as they prepare inventory, operational, and investment plans for the months ahead.
