Widdrington Lakes Holiday Park: A New Addition to UK’s Tourism and Local Economy

The UK is set to welcome a new holiday park, Widdrington Lakes Holiday Park, in Northumberland. The park, which is currently under construction, is expected to feature luxury holiday lodges, lakeside views, and a restaurant.

The park is being developed by Park Holidays UK, which has obtained planning permission for 275 static caravan pitches and 200 all-weather tent pitches. The site will also feature 475 luxury holiday lodges with two to three bedrooms each, which will be available for rent or purchase.

At the heart of the holiday park will be two lakes, offering some guests lake views from their accommodation.

The park will also provide various leisure facilities, including a club, a children’s play area, a café, a bar, and a restaurant. An indoor swimming pool is also planned. To encourage biodiversity in the area, plants and trees will be planted throughout the site.

The construction of the holiday park is already underway, with the development planned in two phases. The park is expected to welcome holidaymakers by next spring, according to the company.

Tony Clish, director of Park Holidays UK, expressed his excitement about the project, stating that it’s great to be able to invest in an area he comes from and convert a brownfield site into something that benefits the local economy and boosts tourism in the North East.

The development of Widdrington Lakes Holiday Park is not only expected to attract tourists but also contribute significantly to the local economy. The company hopes to source local contractors and produce wherever possible to maximize the economic impact.

Recruitment drives will also be launched for full-time and seasonal staff, filling both operational and management roles.

This isn’t the only holiday park set to open in the UK. Plans have also been approved for Hollybush Lakes Holiday Park in Aldershot, Hampshire. The 16.5-acre site, situated near the A331, will feature nine floating holiday lodges with three to four bedrooms in each building.

The development of new holiday parks like Widdrington Lakes and Hollybush Lakes is a testament to the growing popularity of holiday parks in the UK. These parks not only provide a unique holiday experience but also contribute to local economies by creating jobs and attracting tourists.

The development of Widdrington Lakes Holiday Park is a significant step towards boosting the local economy and tourism in Northumberland. With its luxury lodges, lakeside views, and various leisure facilities, the park is set to offer a unique holiday experience for visitors.

The park’s commitment to biodiversity and local sourcing further adds to its appeal, making it a much-anticipated addition to the UK’s holiday park scene.
