Tregoad Holiday Park: Pioneering Sustainable Initiatives for a Greener Future

The Tregoad Holiday Park, located near Looe in the United Kingdom, has recently amplified its sustainability efforts as part of a significant investment program.

The park has invested £300,000 in planting various indigenous plant species and installed new habitats, including three natural beehives, duck houses, as well as bird and bat boxes made from recycled electric cable colonies.

These initiatives are part of the park’s commitment to nurturing and enhancing its natural surroundings, contributing to a greener future, and enriching the guest experience.

The park’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its flora and fauna. This year, Tregoad Holiday Park is investing £36,000 in upgrading its wildlife walk, adding an additional 2km to allow guests access to more of the park’s rich landscape and range of wildlife, as per a report by the Cornish Times.

This initiative not only enhances the guest experience but also promotes outdoor recreation and appreciation for nature.

In addition to its environmental initiatives, Tregoad Holiday Park is also committed to supporting local businesses. The park works with more than 50 local suppliers, including Flotsam Flo, a company that creates fashion accessories from waste that is typically difficult to recycle.

This partnership allows the park to actively take in items like old wetsuits, which are then upcycled by Flotsam Flo and sold in the park’s shop.

Tregoad Holiday Park’s commitment to sustainability and recycling has led it to become the first holiday park in the UK to go ‘full cycle’ in recycling, upcycling, and redistributing.

This initiative has had a significant impact on the park’s waste management, with the park aiming to reduce its landfill by a further 10% this year. Between 2022 and 2023, the park has already diverted 80 tonnes of waste from going to landfill by switching to alternative waste companies.

The park’s sustainability initiatives have not only improved the guest experience but also had a positive impact on the local economy and environment. By working with local suppliers and implementing recycling initiatives, the park is supporting local businesses and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Matt Way, the general manager at Tregoad Holiday Park, expressed pride in the park’s sustainability efforts.

“Our wildlife assets are central to Tregoad, with our signature lakes and woodland walk a core part of our guest experience. We believe we have a responsibility to nurture and enhance our natural surroundings, helping Cornwall’s local environment thrive and contribute to a greener future,” he said.

The park’s commitment to sustainability and the local community is a testament to its dedication to providing a unique and enriching experience for its guests.

By investing in its natural surroundings and supporting local businesses, Tregoad Holiday Park is setting a standard for other holiday parks and contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous future for the local community.

As Tregoad Holiday Park continues to step up its sustainable initiatives, it serves as a model for other holiday parks and businesses. Its commitment to nurturing its natural surroundings, supporting local businesses, and promoting recycling and upcycling demonstrates how businesses can contribute to a greener future while enhancing the customer experience.

Tregoad Holiday Park’s commitment to sustainability and the local community is not only enhancing the guest experience but also contributing to a greener future and a more prosperous local economy.

As the park continues to step up its sustainable initiatives, it sets a standard for other holiday parks and businesses, demonstrating the positive impact of sustainability on the customer experience, local economy, and environment.
