A popular holiday destination on the North Wales coast is marking a significant milestone as Talacre Beach Resort celebrates 60 years of operation. Situated in the coastal village of Talacre in Flintshire, the resort, owned by Darwin Escapes, remains one of the region’s busiest and most cherished holiday parks.
The 44-acre site is home to more than 450 caravans and lodges and underwent a £1 million redevelopment. The project included significant enhancements to the clubhouse facilities, improved access to the swimming pool, and the addition of a new children’s play area.
“Talacre Beach Resort opened in the 1960s and has always been hugely popular, notably with people from the Midlands and the north of England,” Chris Williams, sales manager at the resort, said, as reported by News From Wales. “Most of our owners live within a two-hour radius as they have children or are retirees, but we have had several generations of the same family here, which shows you how much they love it. Since the transformation under Darwin Escapes, there has been even more for people to enjoy.”
The resort’s location near the iconic Point of Ayr lighthouse and the RSPB nature reserve adds to its appeal, offering visitors a tranquil coastal escape. “Despite the many people who visit us every year, this part of the coast is still something of a hidden gem,” Williams noted.
The park’s amenities include a tropical swimming pool, a gym, a bar and restaurant, and play areas. Visitors also have access to a busy calendar of live events and activities, enhancing the holiday experience. The nearby village features attractions such as amusement arcades, cafes, and traditional ice cream parlors, providing a well-rounded experience for guests.
Williams, who has worked at the park since 2004 in various roles, also reflected on the changes he has witnessed. “I’ve seen so many things change over the last 20 years, but one constant is the smiles on people’s faces when they open the doors to their caravan for the very first time. Long may that continue, and here’s to another 60 years in Talacre for Darwin Escapes.”
According to its website, choosing a static caravan holiday with Darwin ensures access to some of the UK’s most sought-after locations, from the Cornish coastline to the sandy beaches of North Wales. The three holiday parks offer a range of family-friendly facilities, catering to all ages, alongside vibrant local areas to explore. With a variety of static caravans available for rent, these parks provide a setting for a memorable break, whether seeking relaxation, adventure, or a mix of both.
The self-catering static caravans are fully equipped to provide a comfortable and convenient stay. Each unit features fitted kitchens, spacious family-sized bathrooms, and full-sized bedrooms, with selected caravans offering outdoor decking areas to unwind. Accommodating groups of four to six people, these caravans are ideal for families and friends.
