This 24/7 call-in service will offer expert advice on camping conundrums, accessible toll-free by dialing 1-844-SCOUT101 or 1-844-SCOUT10 for Bell Canada users.
According to a press release, the helpline is designed to assist campers who find themselves in tricky situations at their campsites. While Scouts Canada emphasizes preparedness, they recognize that even meticulous planners can face unexpected challenges outdoors. Recent weather events have highlighted the need for such a service, as wildfires and floods affected camping activities across Canada in 2023.
When calling the Camptastic Helpline, campers can access pre-recorded solutions from experienced Scouts and volunteer Scouters covering topics from wildlife encounters to outdoor bathroom etiquette. The service aims to provide real-time assistance for common camping concerns, giving Canadians the confidence to fully enjoy their outdoor adventures.
Scouts Canada has also created an online resource hub at scouts.ca/CamptasticHelpline, offering helpful guides and videos on various topics, including wildlife safety and insect protection. Parks Canada’s “Bare” Campsite Program provides additional tips on keeping campsites free of wildlife attractants, further enhancing camper safety.
The great Canadian outdoors are calling this summer camping season, but that doesn’t mean that everyone is 100% ready to take the call,” said Kaelem Moniz, a youth volunteer of eight years with Scouts Canada. “The Camptastic Helpline is all about giving Canadians 24/7 Camping confidence on call to get out in the wild with wonder, not worry.”
