Canadian Campgrounds Win President’s and Founder’s Awards at 2022 KOA Convention & Expo in Florida

Kampgrounds of America (KOA) today recognized Canadian campgrounds with the President’s and Founder’s Awards at the 2022 KOA Convention & Expo taking place in Orlando, Florida. Of the 430 KOA campgrounds recognized, 24 came from Canada.

Qualifying campgrounds are chosen every year based on the results of an annual inspection and guest feedback. The company surveys over a quarter million campers after each stay.

According to a press release, KOA President’s Award is given to parks in KOA’s system that excel in providing excellent camping facilities and consistently high levels of guest service. In short, President’s Award recipients are dedicated to providing great KOA camping.

Across Canada, Hinton / Jasper KOA Holiday was the only award recipient in Alberta. Other President’s Award recipients include Halifax West KOA Holiday and North Sydney / Cabot Trail KOA Journey in Nova Scotia as well as Owen Sound KOA Journey and Renfrew / Ottawa West KOA Journey in Ontario.

KOA Founder’s Award, another award given this morning, is the company’s premiere achievement in honor of KOA Founder Dace Drum.

Drum was a visionary and dreamer who established the first commercially successful campground in the United States at a time when the general public favored road-tripping in a campervan but had nowhere to stay for the duration of their trip.

The Founder’s Award is given to KOA parks that share Drum’s dream of providing the highest quality facilities while going above and beyond what guests expect. Moreover, recipients are those who embody the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation that Drum had while delivering excellent service to campers.

Canadian KOA campgrounds that received the Founder’s Award today include Cranbrook / St. Eugene KOA Journey from British Columbia; Gros Morne / Norris Point KOA Holiday in Newfoundland; and Borden / Summerside KOA Journey, Cavendish KOA Holiday, and Cornwall / Charlottetown KOA Holiday located in Prince Edward Island.

In Ontario, Barrie KOA Holiday, Brighton / 401 KOA Holiday, Cardinal / Ottawa South KOA Holiday, Niagara Falls KOA Holiday, Parry Sound KOA Holiday, Sault Ste. Marie KOA Holiday, Sturgeon Falls KOA Holiday, 1000 Islands / Kingston KOA Holiday, 1000 Islands / Mallorytown KOA Holiday, and Thunder Bay KOA Holiday won the same award.

Meanwhile, Founder’s Award recipients in Quebec include Bas Saint-Laurent KOA Resort, Bromont KOA Holiday, Montreal South KOA, and Quebec City KOA Holiday.

The 2022 KOA Convention & Expo is the latest event of KOA. The conference is underway at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, and is set to wrap up on Thursday, November 17.
