The adventures are underway! Last night, Universal’s CityWalk and Marvel Island lit up yellow as it closed exclusively for Kampground of America’s (KOA) Convention & Expo after hours party.

KOA Convention & Expo, happening in Orlando, Florida, kicked off yesterday, November 14 with the appearance of its famous hot air balloon. The convention is happening from November 14 to November 17.

Aside from the limitless learning opportunities from industry experts, KOA’s Convention & Expo also serves as a networking opportunity for park and campground owners to get to know more about their colleagues in the industry and learn from each other’s best practices in operating their businesses.

During the after hours party, participating park owners were invited to attend the opening night reception which included buffet dinner and drinks.
After a few hours at the CityWalk, the attendees left and took a guided walk to the private event area on Marvel Island. group will head to Marvel Super Hero Island for KOA-exclusive after-hours park access.

KOA had an exclusive pass to the Marvel Super Hero Island in the Islands of Adventure theme park where park owners enjoyed various attractions and rides including the Incredible Hulk Coaster and the revolutionary Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

The convention this morning started with sessions including talks on how to handle seasonal guests, increasing Kampstore sales and profit, and revenue management, and more.
Meanwhile, the afternoon sessions discussed planning and budgeting for capital and operation maintenance, changes to KOA’s Quality Assurance Manual, saying “hello” and “goodbye” to employees, and more.

KOA has been in the forefront of campground management education since the 1970s. In a recent interview with KOA’s learning and development specialist Tyler Munson, the importance of continued learning and development for higher productivity and less turnover was underscored.
