Airstream has introduced the World Traveler 17RB, a new 17-foot travel trailer featuring a compact floor plan designed with a Scandinavian-inspired interior, expanded workspace options and a rear sleeping area designed for two sleepers.
The new model expands the World Traveler lineup, following the World Traveler 22RB, with a smaller design intended to be towable by many crossovers, SUVs and lightweight pickups.
According to Airstream, the 17RB is designed to provide residential-style features in a more compact travel trailer format.
The World Traveler 17RB features white aluminum walls, dual-pane acrylic windows and flexible interior spaces.
The rear sleeping area includes a 53-inch-wide bed, while the kitchen area includes two countertop extensions to increase workspace. One extension is foldable, while the other is removable and designed for storage when not in use.
The new floor plan also includes more customizable workspaces, allowing owners to adapt the interior layout for different travel needs.
The introduction of the World Traveler 17RB comes as Airstream continues its development of both travel trailers and motorized RVs.
The company said it has manufactured motorhomes alongside its aluminum travel trailers for more than 50 years, with its touring coach lineup becoming a part of its motorized RV offerings.
Airstream’s motorhome history began in 1974 with the Argosy Motorhome, which featured wrap-around windows and a painted beige exterior.
The company later introduced the Argosy Compact Bus, followed by the Airstream Motorhome in 1979 as its first dedicated motorized Airstream model.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Airstream expanded into specialty vehicles, including the A/van utility and delivery vehicle, the Air Coach designed for business travel, the Sales Coach mobile sales office and the Funeral Coach.
The company replaced the Argosy motorhome with 24- and 28-foot Excella or International motorhomes in 1979, models now referred to as the Airstream Classic Motorhome.
In 1989, Airstream introduced the Land Yacht Motorhome, which incorporated laminated fiberglass construction into motorhome designs through 2006. The company also developed the SkyDeck model, which featured a rooftop patio with a grilling area and cushioned seating.
Airstream’s partnership with Mercedes-Benz began in 2004 with the introduction of Interstate Touring Coach models.
The touring coach lineup later expanded to include eight models. In 2017, Airstream introduced the Atlas Touring Coach, built on the Sprinter chassis and offered in two models.
