The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) presented its annual awards recognizing leading parks, a supplier, and an industry contributor during its Spring Meeting and Convention at the Lone Star Convention Center in Conroe, Texas.
TACO Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Brian Schaeffer announced the recipients, marking the association’s annual recognition of standout properties and individuals across Texas’s private campground and RV park sector.
According to a press release, the Large Park of the Year Award, which recognizes parks with more than 125 sites, was awarded to Lagoon Ranch RV Resort. The property opened in April 2025 and features 194 RV sites and 24 custom cabins. It includes 1,000 feet of waterfront along Lake Livingston, a 180,000-gallon lagoon-style swimming pool with a swim-up bar, and an on-site restaurant.
The Small Park of the Year Award, for parks with fewer than 125 sites, was presented to River’s Edge Campground in Johnson City. The 57-site campground is located along the Pedernales River in the Texas Hill Country on a 100-acre property featuring oak trees, open space, and a range of accommodations including RV sites, tent sites, cabins, and covered wagons.
Amenities include a nine-hole disc golf course, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole courts, a playground, and a giant chess game. The property also offers river-based recreation such as fishing, swimming, tubing, and kayaking.
Camp Quitcherbichin in Lake Bridgeport also received TACO’s Glamping Resort of the Year Award. The full-service RV and cabin resort includes a mile of waterfront along Lake Bridgeport, along with pontoon boat, kayak, paddle board, and pedal boat rentals.
It offers 48 RV sites and multiple lodging options, including two 1977 Airstream trailers, four covered wagons, 12 site-built cabins, and 10 futuristic “vessels” featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, smart mirrors, electronic skylights, and heated floors.
On-site dining includes Jo Mama’s Italian Kitchen, Trailer Park Tacos, Sacred Cow Burger Co., and the Honey Hole Saloon. The resort also features a coffee and dessert “Chill Station” and Delilah’s Ballroom, an event venue with a commercial kitchen and bar.
The Supplier of the Year Award went to Wild Energy, a company providing technology and software that allow private park operators to sub-meter electric and water utilities and charge guests based on usage.
Wild Energy President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Sorensen said utility costs are difficult for operators to predict due to differing guest consumption habits, weather patterns, and variable utility rates.
TACO also presented its Spirit Award to Terry Munoz of Campground Consulting Group for his contributions to the private park industry. Munoz has served in multiple terms on the TACO and OHI boards and has volunteered as an instructor at the George O’Leary National School of Outdoor Hospitality.
He currently serves as chairman of the OHI Foundation, which provides education grants and emergency assistance to park operators affected by natural disasters.
TACO, based in Crowley, Texas, represents more than 430 campgrounds, RV parks, and resorts across the state.
