Aliner, a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of lightweight camping trailers, has introduced the Switchback, a compact camper pod designed to fit most standard and mid-sized pickup trucks.
The new product targets outdoor enthusiasts seeking a minimalist camping solution without kitchens or bathrooms, focusing instead on mobility, insulation, and sleeping comfort.
Weighing just 375 pounds, the Switchback is built with an aluminum frame and no wood components, minimizing the risk of rot.
Its compact design fits truck beds between 5.5 and 8 feet long and remains garageable even when mounted, able to pass through a 7-foot garage door in its closed position.
“No kitchen. No bathroom. No problem. The Switchback is all about the journey — and a great night’s sleep when you get there,” Brett Randall, president and CEO of Aliner, said in a press release.
The interior features a full-size 60-by-72-inch bed, insulated walls, and tinted safety glass windows.
Setup time is minimal, with users able to deploy the pod in approximately 30 seconds, offering convenience for campers on the move.
The camper includes two exterior 60-inch-long lockable storage drawers for gear and equipment. It is secured to the truck bed using a quick tie-down system and features a lockable entry for added security during travel and overnight stays.
Designed with a comfort-first philosophy, the Switchback provides essential electrical functionality through a 30-amp converter and includes both interior 12-volt and standard electric outlets.
Aliner emphasized the Switchback’s appeal to overlanders, weekend adventurers, and digital nomads who want to travel light while maintaining reliable shelter at their destination. The product is tailored for those who prioritize simplicity and backcountry readiness.
