Vixen Composites, a brand under AIRXCEL, showcased a range of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) products and the new ArmorLight RV Caps during the Airxcel 2024 OEM Product Showcase, which took place on October 16-17 in Elkhart, Indiana.
The featured FRP products are designed for outdoor applications, emphasizing durability and resistance to environmental factors. These materials are composed of chopped fiberglass reinforcement combined with unsaturated polyester resin, providing a robust solution for various industries.
Among the newly launched products is the FibroSupreme, a thicker 0.055-inch FRP product aimed at RV exterior walls. This economical choice stands out by providing thickness compared to standard 0.045-inch FRP, enhancing its ability to conceal seams and imperfections. The increased thickness of FibroSupreme is 22% greater than its predecessor.
The FibroGloss series also debuted at the showcase, featuring a semi-rigid fiberglass-reinforced plastic available in custom lengths up to 200 feet. With a thickness of 0.060 inches, these panels present a high-gloss finish on the front side, ensuring an attractive appearance while maintaining a uniform color.
In addition to FibroGloss, Vixen introduced the 3mm FibroGloss, which offers a smooth finish and uniform color tailored to customer specifications. This variant provides flexibility in width and length, catering to diverse project requirements. Similarly, the FibroPebble product features a pebbled texture on the front side, also customizable in dimensions, allowing for a wide range of design possibilities.
Vixen’s FibroShine product rounds out the FRP offerings, showcasing a smooth, high-gloss finish with uniform color and the ability to be manufactured in custom lengths up to 500 feet.
A significant highlight of the showcase was the introduction of the ArmorLight RV Caps. These caps utilize a Liquid Molded Resin technology designed to enhance the durability and protection of recreational vehicles. This innovative cap safeguards RVs against harsh environmental conditions, road debris, and impacts.
The ArmorLight RV Caps can be tailored in size and shape to fit various applications, including the 5th Wheel, travel trailer, and Class A, B, or C models that use fiberglass or thermoplastic olefin (TPO) materials.
Gordon Frost, business unit manager for Vixen Composites, emphasized the company’s dedication to building a comprehensive portfolio of FRP offerings. “From the very beginning of Vixen Composites, we have worked to build a complete portfolio of FRP offerings in both coils and cut-to-size parts, panels, and front caps,” he stated.
