Open Road Resorts, an outdoor hospitality company specializing in owning and operating RV parks and campgrounds, has acquired Good Shepherd RV Park & Storage in Gunter, Texas. This marks the fifth addition to Open Road Resorts’ portfolio and its second property in Texas.
Good Shepherd RV Park & Storage, established in 2019, is located just north of Frisco, Texas, the property offers a range of services, including RV and boat storage, and caters to families and outdoor enthusiasts. The RV park also features family-friendly amenities and flexible booking options, providing a safe and clean environment for visitors. Its location near recreational sites such as Lake Ray Roberts, Lake Lewisville, and Lake Texoma further enhances its appeal.
Chase Becker, co-founder of Open Road Resorts, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, noting the longstanding relationship between the company and the Andrews family, who initially developed Good Shepherd. “This is a special acquisition for Open Road Resorts as our relationship with the Andrews family dates back to the opening of the park in 2019,” Becker said.
He added that the park has established itself as one of the highest-rated, largest RV parks and storage facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. “We are honored and humbled to welcome Good Shepherd to the Open Road Resorts family,” Becker added.
The acquisition aligns with Open Road Resorts’ strategy to enhance customer satisfaction by investing in infrastructure and amenities. Co-founder Jim Omstrom also highlighted the significance of the acquisition. “Good Shepherd’s high-quality offering enhances our ability to capitalize on this dynamic market,” Omstrom said.
He outlined plans to expand the park’s amenities, including the addition of a pool, fishing pond, retail store, and playground.
Open Road Resorts was founded in 2019 by Becker and Omstrom with a mission to provide premium experiences for RV travelers across the United States. The company’s growing portfolio includes properties in Idaho, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Texas. Each park focuses on delivering clean, family-friendly environments with robust amenities designed to meet the needs of modern travelers.
