Texas campgrounds are welcoming fall travelers with a wide range of available campsites and cabins. As schools resume, more campsites are open for reservation, offering access to both natural and manmade water attractions while the weather remains warm.
“It’s easier to find campsites and rental accommodations in September and October because the kids have gone back to school, yet it’s still warm enough to enjoy each park’s natural and manmade water attractions,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director and CEO of the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO).
For those looking for specific locations, Alamo Fiesta RV Resort in Boerne offers 220 pet-friendly RV sites and cabins, ideal for exploring San Antonio or the Texas Hill Country. The park also features amenities like a playground, exercise equipment, and a store, providing convenience for all guests. Ennis Luxury RV Resort, on the other hand, offers more upscale options, such as swimming pools, a clubhouse, dog parks, and services like dry cleaning and RV washes. Its proximity to a Buc-ee’s adds an extra convenience for travelers on the go.
Great Escapes RV Resorts continues to expand their network across Texas, with locations in Bryan, Cedar Creek, and Perrin offering unique amenities like resort-style swimming pools, obstacle courses, and themed activities. The Bryan location, for example, offers a floating obstacle course, while Perrin boasts multiple pools and wet wagon rides, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere. New developments are also underway, with four additional resorts planned in Elgin, Austin, and San Antonio.
Loyd Park in Grand Prairie, located within the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, offers a scenic retreat by Joe Pool Lake with a mix of campsites, lakefront cabins, and yurts. The park’s lodge includes a fully equipped kitchen, porch, fire pit, and Wi-Fi, catering to larger groups or families. Additionally, Northlake Village RV Park in Roanoke offers a big-rig-friendly experience with full hookups, concrete patios, and shaded areas, complemented by a swimming pool, fitness center, and dog park.
Further south, Oakdale RV Resort & Motor Court in Glen Rose provides a blend of tradition and modernity. Opened in 1925, Oakdale was built around a large swimming pool and has maintained its charm with rental accommodations and RV sites. It is one of the few RV parks listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and plans are in place for a centennial celebration in 2025.
Pecan Park Riverside RV Park in San Marcos is another fall destination, offering riverside camping, an indoor pool, and off-leash dog parks, which are ideal for tubing enthusiasts visiting the San Marcos River.
For those looking to stay by the beach, Pioneer Beach RV Resort in Port Aransas provides RV sites and cabins with amenities such as swimming pools, a recreation hall, and a private boardwalk to the beach.
On the opposite end of the state, Twisted Parrot Luxury RV Resort in Montgomery offers access to the exclusive Margaritaville Lake Resort, where guests can enjoy water slides, mini-golf, and five on-site restaurants.
Closer to urban areas, the Retreat at Shady Creek in Aubrey caters to those looking for luxury amenities, including a swimming pool, gym, putting green, and pickleball courts. The Vineyards Campground and Cabins in Grapevine provides scenic views of Grapevine Lake and offers kayak and bicycle rentals.
In contrast, the Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park in Fredericksburg offers glamping wagons and a host of activities, including disc golf and rock climbing, while remaining close to the region’s renowned wineries.
Trader’s Village RV Park in Houston stands out for its proximity to a flea market and amusement parks. The park features concrete pads, swimming pools, and laundry facilities, providing a convenient stay for travelers.
West Bay Marina RV Park in Azle offers lakeside camping with access to boat slips and cabin rentals, making it a great choice for those seeking water-based activities.
