KOA, Beef Loving Texans Launch Texas Camping Campaign Featuring Grilling Events, Outdoor Cooking

Kampgrounds of America (KOA) and Beef Loving Texans launched Savor the Texas Outdoors, a summer campaign that combines outdoor cooking, camping experiences and public grilling events at KOA campgrounds across Texas, according to a release.

The initiative is aimed at Texans interested in camping and outdoor cooking, with organizers citing findings from KOA’s 2026 Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report that show growing consumer interest in traditional camping experiences.

According to the report, 50% of consumers want to relive childhood camping memories, while 55% plan to tent camp this year and 44% are interested in learning outdoor cooking.

The campaign will run throughout the summer with outdoor cooking content, grilling recipes, camping inspiration, a free downloadable camping guide and a sweepstakes offering participants the opportunity to win a weekend stay at the Fredericksburg KOA Resort, which is scheduled to open Sept. 1.

A series of free public events will also be held at select KOA campgrounds across Texas, featuring live grilling demonstrations led by Beef Loving Texans Pitmaster and Grill Master Jerry McPherson, host of the organization’s Smoke Lab events.

During appearances in July and August, McPherson will demonstrate steak grilling techniques and show attendees how to use leftovers to prepare additional campsite meals. The sessions are intended to provide practical outdoor cooking methods for campers, backyard grillers and other outdoor enthusiasts.

Event attendees will also have access to complimentary beef-inspired food, music, lawn games and family-oriented campground activities. While admission is free, organizers said advance registration is required because attendance is limited.

Scheduled stops include Austin East KOA Holiday on July 11, Galveston Island KOA Holiday on July 25 and Lake Conroe/Houston North KOA Holiday on Aug. 1. Each event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Whether it’s a camping trip, an RV getaway or a backyard cookout, some of our favorite memories are made around beef,” said Rachel Chou, director of consumer marketing for Beef Loving Texans. “Savor the Texas Outdoors is about helping Texans reconnect with those simple moments, like gathering outside, sharing a great meal and creating new memories with family and friends.”

According to a press release, Ethan Rafei, vice president of the Texas KOA Owners Association, said the campaign reflects changing traveler interests centered on shared outdoor experiences.

“We’re seeing more travelers seek experiences that help them slow down and reconnect with the people around them,” Rafei said. “Whether it’s gathering around the grill, enjoying a meal outdoors or introducing a new generation to camping traditions, these are the kinds of experiences campers are increasingly seeking today.”
