The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) is encouraging travelers to book campsite and cabin reservations now for Labor Day weekend, saying the most sought-after accommodations are typically reserved by visitors who plan ahead.
“The best campsites and cabins always go to those who plan ahead and make their reservations early, which is why we always encourage people to book their reservations early,” Brian Schaeffer, TACO’s executive director and CEO, said in a press release.
To help travelers find available destinations, TACO highlighted several campgrounds across Texas that still have vacancies for Labor Day weekend.
The association also directs consumers to its travel planning websites, TexasCampgrounds.com, TexasCabinRentals.net and TexasGlampingResorts.com, which feature camping, cabin rental and glamping options throughout the state.
Among the parks with reported availability is Jamaica Beach RV Resort in Galveston, which offers pull-through RV sites alongside multiple water attractions, including beach-entry, family and indoor pools, splash pads and a 700-foot lazy river.Other amenities include miniature golf, pickleball courts, nature trails and an adults-only infinity spa and sauna.
Loyd Park in Grand Prairie also has openings. The 791-acre recreation area on Joe Pool Lake includes 221 campsites, lakefront cabins, yurts and an 18-room lodge equipped with a full kitchen, Wi-Fi, barbecue grill, fire pit and covered porch.
Oakdale RV Resort & Motor Court in Glen Rose, which opened as a campground and motor court in 1925, is another option for Labor Day travelers. According to the park’s owners, it was built around the 330,000-gallon Oakdale Plunge, once the largest swimming pool in Texas.
The property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers RV and tent sites, rental accommodations, a historic dance hall and amenities including a swimming pool, dog park and outdoor stage.
Additional parks with vacancies include River’s Edge Campground in Johnson City, offering RV sites, themed cabins and covered wagons along the Pedernales River; Trader’s Village RV Park in Houston, located adjacent to the Trader’s Village flea market and entertainment complex; and Twin Oaks Resort in Alleyton, a 168-acre RV resort featuring lakeside fishing, go-kart tracks, event facilities and a dance hall.
