Balmorhea State Park in Texas has reopened its campground after a prolonged closure.

The newly reopened campground features upgraded water and electrical systems, paved areas, and a restroom compliant with dark sky standards. The park has also introduced three new ADA-accessible RV sites.

Visitors can make reservations through the Texas State Parks reservation system online or by calling 512-389-8900. A limited selection of online reservations will be available beginning May 2, with a full and expanded offering of sites available on May 11 after the pool is cleaned. We look forward to seeing and serving you at Balmorhea State Park very soon!” the park’s Facebook post states.

The pool will undergo its scheduled annual maintenance from May 6 to May 10. If you have a pre-existing RV park reservation, you’re all set! Your stay will not be affected. However, please note that campers will not have access to the pool from May 6 to May 10,” the park adds.

Each day, over 15 million gallons of water from San Solomon Springs surge into the pool, which reaches depths of up to 25 feet, spans 1.3 acres and contains 3.5 million gallons of water. The water temperature consistently remains between 72 and 76 degrees throughout the year.

The park website indicates that all swimmers under 15 must be supervised by a parent, legal guardian, or an adult aged 18 or older. Additionally, pets are prohibited within the fenced area of the pool.

The discovery of structural damage initially led to the closure of the park’s pool in 2018. Though the pool briefly reopened, the park underwent another round of closures in 2019 to facilitate repairs, according to an article published by San Antonio Express News

RV park owners and campground operators can gain valuable insights from Balmorhea State Park’s approach to enhancing customer experience and communication. By investing in significant upgrades such as improved water and electrical systems, newly paved areas, and facilities compliant with dark sky standards, Balmorhea demonstrates the importance of continually updating infrastructure to improve guest comfort.

The introduction of ADA-accessible RV sites underscores a commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all visitors can enjoy the offerings. This approach not only improves the quality of service but also expands the customer base by accommodating a broader audience.

Furthermore, Balmorhea State Park’s use of reservation systems and proactive communication via social media are examples of effective customer service practices. By allowing visitors to book their stay through both online platforms and phone calls, the park caters to diverse preferences, making the reservation process as convenient as possible.
