Spacious Skies Campgrounds Highlights Fall Festivals Along 2,500-Mile Color Trail

Spacious Skies Campgrounds is celebrating the fall season by highlighting a variety of festivals along its 2,500-mile Fall Color Trail, which connects 15 of its campgrounds from Maine to Georgia. The trail offers an immersive way to experience fall foliage.

The trail covers 10 states and provides nearly three months of seasonal activities. Campers are encouraged to attend local festivals, from the New Hampshire Book Festival to the Savannah Film Festival, with each event offering a glimpse into the character of its location.

“Festivals are one of the best ways to have an immersive local experience in any destination you visit,” said Ali Rasmussen, co-founder of Spacious Skies Campgrounds. According to Rasmussen, the combination of fall weather and local creativity makes these events “downright epic.”

In Maine, the Fall Foliage Festival at Boothbay’s Railway Village Museum has been a staple for 55 years, showcasing art, music, food, and train rides. Similarly, the New Hampshire Book Festival in Concord brings together authors and readers to celebrate literacy, making it a must-attend for book enthusiasts visiting Spacious Skies campgrounds in the region.

Further south, North Carolina offers the 41st Annual Mountain Glory Festival in Spruce Pine, featuring over 150 craft vendors, food stalls, and a quilt show, adding to the cultural richness of the area. Meanwhile, the Savannah Film Festival in Georgia offers a more refined experience, drawing nearly 50,000 attendees to celebrate emerging filmmakers alongside industry professionals.

For those interested in agriculture and folk traditions, New York’s Sheep and Wool Festival offers workshops on weaving and knitting and competitions showcasing local craftsmanship. Virginia’s Blue Ridge Folklife Festival, on the other hand, dives deep into the region’s heritage with activities ranging from mule jumping to antique tractor displays.

Spacious Skies Campgrounds also provides several ways for campers to stay, offering RV sites, cabins, and glamping accommodations. Campers can choose from yurts or retro trailers for a unique experience. In addition, through a partnership with RV Share, travelers can try RV camping, making these destinations more accessible to a wider audience.

In addition to the fall festivities, Spacious Skies Campgrounds is actively hiring for campground management and staff positions. They are seeking individuals passionate about the outdoors and interested in working for a growing company with a focus on creating memorable experiences for campers.
