The RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) December 2024 survey revealed a 6.6% increase in total RV shipments, reaching 333,733 units for the year.
This marks a positive trajectory for the industry, with December shipments alone climbing by 7.6%, reaching 23,153 units compared to 21,522 in December 2023. Despite challenges, the results underscore the sector’s resilience and growing appeal to consumers.
“Despite challenges, the RV industry showed resilience and an upward trajectory in 2024, and continued to demonstrate its broad appeal to consumers,” said Craig Kirby, president and CEO of RVIA.
“These modest gains provide a solid foundation to build upon, and we are confident that with continued innovation and dedication to customer satisfaction, the RV industry will see even greater success in 2025,” he said in a News and Insights report of RVIA.
Towable RVs, especially conventional travel trailers, played a significant role in this growth. December shipments of these units saw an 11.4% increase, totaling 20,814 units.
However, motorhomes faced a challenging period, with a 17.7% decline in December shipments. Only 2,339 units were shipped.
In contrast, park model RVs saw a mixed performance. December shipments increased by 5.0%, totaling 273 units. However, PMRVs ended 2024 with a 22.3% decrease, totaling 3,927 units for the year.
RVIA, with offices located in Washington, D.C., and Elkhart, IN, has been a key player in the $140 billion RV industry for 50 years. Representing over 500 manufacturers, component suppliers, and aftermarket providers, RVIA plays a critical role in shaping the industry, producing 98% of all RVs made in the United States and approximately 60% globally.
