The RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) June 2024 survey of manufacturers reported that total RV shipments reached 25,308 units, reflecting a 5.0% increase over the 24,095 units shipped in June 2023.
Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, saw an 11.4% increase from last June, totaling 23,020 shipments. In contrast, motorhome shipments fell by 33.2%, with 2,288 units recorded for the month.
Year-to-date RV shipments are up 8.4%, reaching 178,596 units through June. Meanwhile, park model RVs experienced a 13.8% decrease, with 337 wholesale shipments reported in June.
RVIA President & CEO Craig Kirby noted that RV shipments increased in June, with travel trailer shipments showing the “greatest increase” at 19% for the year.
“As consumers continue to look for affordable ways to vacation, RVs provide consumers with the freedom to travel while also controlling their costs and itineraries in a way that is easier than with traditional travel options,” Kirby said in a News & Insights report of RVIA.
In addition to June’s report, the RVIA’s survey of manufacturers reported a rise in total RV shipments for May 2024, with 33,150 units recorded. This represents a 7.2% increase compared to the 30,919 units shipped in May 2023.
As the summer RV travel season kicks off, Kirby highlighted that 45 million Americans are anticipated to embark on RV trips, creating memorable experiences with friends and family.
The RVIA’s shipment summary indicated that towable RVs, particularly conventional travel trailers, saw a 13.5% increase from last May, amounting to 30,177 shipments.
However, the motorhome segment experienced shipments dropping by 31.2% to 2,973 units compared to the same month the previous year. Park Model RVs encountered a decrease in wholesale shipments, down 24.4% in May to 363 units.
