RV Industry Association Reveals Slight Uptick in 2024 January RV Shipment Report

RV Industry Association (RVIA) January 2024 survey of manufacturers revealed an uptick in RV shipments, marking a promising start to the year for the industry. According to the survey, a total of 22,674 RV units were shipped during the month, representing an 11.1% increase from the 20,405 units shipped in January 2023.

“We continue to be optimistic about the direction the industry is heading this year, and this latest shipment report aligns with the moderate increases we are expecting in 2024,” RV Industry Association President & CEO Craig Kirby said, as quoted in an RVIA report.

The RV Industry Association represents a vast majority, over 500 entities, including manufacturers and suppliers of components and aftermarket products, accounting for 98% of all RVs manufactured in the United States and around 60% of those produced globally.

“RVing remains one of the most affordable ways to travel and we are encouraged by the excitement consumers have for the RVing lifestyle, evident by strong campground bookings for the upcoming spring travel season and solar eclipse,” Kirby said.

Shipments of towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, surged by 21.1% compared to January of the previous year, totaling 19,523 units. Conversely, the motorhome experienced a decline (-26.5%), with shipments falling by 26.5% to 3,151 units. Meanwhile, Park Model RVs reported January down, with a 44.2% drop to 305 units in January 2024.

According to its website, the RV Industry Association is recognized as the source of research, data, and analytical insights concerning the RV market. Additionally, the association is committed to enlarging the consumer base for RVs and enhancing the RVing experience for existing enthusiasts via its Go RVing program.

Furthermore, the association conducts a rigorous inspection program that evaluates RV manufacturers’ adherence to plumbing, heating, fire and life safety, and electrical systems. It also offers continuous education on Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards to its members.
