RV Industry Association Appoints Alice Brumfield as State Legislative Associate

The RV Industry Association (RVIA) has appointed Alice Brumfield as its new state legislative associate, tasking her with reviewing and tracking state legislation that could affect the RV industry and its members.

Brumfield joined the association’s staff in early December 2025 and is part of the Government Affairs team, which represents the industry before state legislators and regulators.

In her role, she identifies and analyzes bills that may influence RV manufacturers, suppliers and other stakeholders.

“I review legislation as it comes out to see whether it would impact the RV industry, via definitions or prohibitions,” Brumfield said in a News and Insights report of RVIA on February 17.

“Once I determine the relevance of the bill, I then analyze the legislation to assess the impact that it will have, and my team and I articulate it to both Association staff and to our members,” Brumfield added.

She is also responsible for tracking legislation throughout the process, from introduction to final disposition, whether signed by a governor or expiring at the end of a legislative session. Her duties include research and communications support.

Brumfield began her government affairs career as an intern in the Indiana Senate before relocating to Washington to work at a full-service state government affairs firm.

“While there, I completed what was essentially a legislative boot camp, learning the process of every state legislature in the country,” she said. “I learned the nuances, differences, and deadlines for each legislature, as well as what moves bills from one chamber to another.”

She later joined Honda’s state affairs team, where she said she gained insight into how legislative tracking informs business strategy.

“It was in Honda’s Government Affairs office that I learned how our clients at my previous job would utilize the information we were finding and sending out,” Brumfield said.

Brumfield said her exposure to trade associations at Honda helped her understand how members engage with policy information.

“I developed a sense of how members participate in associations and what information they need to know as they navigate an ever-more-complicated state legislative and regulatory landscape,” she said.

She described the RV industry as a niche at the intersection of mobility and the outdoors. “When I saw the job post, it was like a lightbulb went off,” Brumfield said. “It really felt like the job was custom-made for me.”
