Starting in 2025, visitors to Oregon’s parks and recreation facilities will face higher fees for camping reservations. This marks the first fee increase in seven years, and the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) attributes the rise to increasing utility, maintenance, and operations costs.
According to an article published by Daily Tidings on September 29, camping fees will see a rise based on the location and season, with increases of $5 for cabins and yurts, $4 for RV sites, $3 for tent sites, and $2 for other facilities like tipis and meeting halls.
Beginning October 15, reservations for the 2025 season will see a fee increase.
Lisa Sumption, director of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, stated that the department is committed to keeping park visitors’ costs as low as possible.
According to the Oregon State Parks website, yurts and cabins offer a comfortable and convenient alternative to traditional camping. These shelters provide snug, weather-resistant accommodations.
The “Find a Park” feature on the Oregon State Parks website also makes locating the right cabin or yurt easy, with filters for parks that offer these options. Many cabins and yurts are also pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their furry companions.
Both rustic and deluxe cabins and yurts are available at select parks, offering different levels of comfort. Rustic cabins and yurts feature basic amenities such as beds, heating, and lighting, while shared campground restrooms and showers are nearby. Deluxe options, such as those at Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, include private bathrooms, kitchenettes, and TVs with DVD players, providing a more luxurious experience.
ADA-accessible cabins and yurts, equipped with ramps and accessible restrooms, ensure that all visitors can experience the parks comfortably. With various options available, these cabins and yurts offer a convenient and comfortable stay in Oregon’s natural surroundings.
